The Maple Shade Arts Council is proud to present auditions for “The Addams Family Musical”. Auditions will be held at 7PM on Sunday, April 12th and Monday, April 13th with potential callbacks being held on Wednesday, April 15th at 7PM. Auditions will be held at the Maple Shade Municipal Building, 200 Stiles Avenue, Maple Shade, NJ, 08052.
Actors must be 17 years or older to audition. The only child role will be for Pugsley, which can be a boy between 10-15 years old. While the rehearsal schedule is not finalized, expect something similar to a Sunday night, Tuesday-Thursday night rehearsal schedule. All roles require a small fee upon acceptance of role. Those auditioning will be asked to sing at least 32 bars of a contemporary musical theatre piece, though please have the whole song prepared. You may sing a song from the show. Please make sure you either use the karaoke version of a song with just instrumentation or bring 2 copies of sheet music to have our music director play. In addition, those auditioning should be prepared to dance and expect cold readings from the script.

GOMEZ ADDAMS: A man of Spanish descent who takes great pride in his family and revels in all it means to be an “Addams.” He struggles with having to keep his daughters secret from his wife, whom he adores more than death. Smart, comedic actor with tenor vocals.
MORTICIA ADDAMS: In shape, attractive, leggy, the strength of the family. An easy comedic actress with a sexy, dry wit. Feels her husband is hiding something from her and will use any tactic to lure the secret out. A strong dancer/mover with alto/mezzo soprano vocals.
UNCLE FESTER: The androgynous family member who serves as the musicals narrator. He is larger than life, an energetic, joyous, child-like presence. A vaudeville style comedian with tenor vocals.
WEDNESDAY ADDAMS: Wednesday is an attractive, in shape girl who has the same dry wit and sensibility of her mother. Finds love with a “normal” boy (Lucas) and wants to introduce his family to hers. Experiences the youthful drama that comes with first love. Lucas can actually put a smile on her face. Strong pop belt vocals.
GRANDMA: Caucasian woman. She is a feisty102 year old woman. Fun and quirky, but don’t mess with Grandma. Comedic actress with strong character vocals.
PUGSLEY ADDAMS: Young male actor who plays 12 years old. A charming, funny, husky boy who loves being tortured by his sister. He wants to ensure he won’t lose his sister to her new boyfriend so he takes matters into his own hands. Strong, high vocals. Voice not yet changed.
LURCH: A very tall male character, the Addams butler who knows all. He speaks in moans and groans without becoming a cartoon version of himself. His movement is always very slow Character actor with a low bass vocals to Eb.
MAL BEINEKE: Stuffy father of 19 year old Lucas and exasperated husband to his rhyming wife, Alice. At one time was a follower of The Grateful Dead but has lost that side of himself. Always looking out for his family. Male actor with high baritone/ tenor vocals.
ALICE BEINEKE: Mother of 19 year old Lucas, devoted to her family so she puts aside her own desires. In shape, quirky female who often speaks in rhyme. While at the Addams Family dinner party, she drinks a potion that causes her to let her hair down and speak her truth. Comedic actress with soprano / belt vocals.
LUCAS BEINEKE: Attractive, in shape young man. Fell in love with Wednesday Addams and plans to marry her. Experiences the youthful pain and drama of young love and struggles with the differences between his family and the Addams family. Contemporary pop tenor vocals.
THE ANCESTORS: Male and female ensemble singer/dancers who are smart performers. Dancers who sing and have a fun, quirky sensibility.
Join our Fine Arts Director, Nancy Haddon, for our Illustration class for kids in grades 4 through 8! This is our second illustration class and it is designed for students who attended last year and for new students to join. This class will introduce/reinforce basic illustration concepts, such as contour line drawing, light and shading, perspective, focal points, and basic composition. The class is $60.00 for the student and they will also receive all supplies needed for the 6 week course.
The class is designed for kids in grades 4 through 8.
Price: $60.00 for the entire 6 classes (only $10 per class)
This is a 6 week course that will occur on the following dates…
February 19th, February 26th
March 5th, March 12th, March 19th, March 26th
**Snow date on April 2nd if one of the classes is cancelled due to snow

Come to the first General Membership meeting for the Maple Shade Arts Council for the 2015 Season. Learn about our upcoming season, learn about how to become a member for the upcoming season, renew your membership for this season, and enjoy some refreshments. Also, learn how you can help with our programs for this year or even run your own program! We will also have great new opportunities for children to get involved! We will be meeting at the Maple Shade Municipal Building on Thursday, January 29 starting at 7PM in the upstairs room. “Members of the Maple Shade Arts Council are highly important in the success of our programs. For $40, you will receive your membership for the Arts Council and two tickets to one of our adult musicals, valued at $30. The Arts Council is looking for people who will be performing as a choir at the lighting of the Gazebo portion of Main Street on Nov. 28 at 6pm for “Light Up Gazebo Park”. We will be meeting around 5:30PM and be singing until about 7:30PM. Only two practices which will be Sunday Nov. 23 and Tuesday Nov. 25 from 7-9 at Municipal Building. Music will be taught by Cameron Stringham. Anyone, children and adults, from Maple Shade or elsewhere, is able to join us for this fun time.
